Initial Ideas

Idea 1: Cyberpunk Isometric City

My chosen Specialism: For this project, I would create 2D concept art. As its isometric, it may appear 3D, although this is purely 2D work, I was inspired by my previous project, to continue using this art form.

What will this project include?

his project will focus on a Nano-punk themed civilization, either presented in a concept scene, or diorama. This view will use isometric art, focusing directly on the shape and angles of the buildings. The city will primarily use vapor-wave colours both neon pink and blue, as these are the most vibrant in terms of lighting. The city will include assets such as science fiction vehicle (such as hover boards, motorcycles etc.), and will focus on a society that is dominated by computer advanced technology. Such as holograms and technological advertisements.

What style will this project use?

The style will focus around a cybernetic world, where human functions are replaced with technological ones. Mentioned previously, pink and blue will reflect the neon colours much more, and are monochromatic, and used to refer to technology breakthroughs in science fiction media, and comic books that focus around a high-tech society. The neon effects will be shown as electrified glass tubes, neon advertisements were primarily used in the 1950’s, as they are multi-coloured and gain people’s attention, especially a Nano-punk and post cyberpunk era.

Idea 2: Plasma and Laser Weapon Concept Boards

My chosen Specialism: For my second idea, this will again be created in 2D, as my project is based on the area of work I feel most comfortable. This project will be a variety of technological weapons, using beams, lasers, orbs, and other technological firearm and close-combat.

What will this project include?

These weapons can be presented as a small scene, as this would make it much more effective when producing its final layout, rather than just a single asset. The weapons will specifically have science fiction elements, and lustrous smooth surfaces. The swords, daggers, knives and hammers would be quite heavy, with its panels and extra utilities that make this futuristic. Glass tubes, and neon lighting would also be a large contribution for this, as I could present some of these weapons in glass cases, or an enclosed space making my designs more appealing. 

What style will this project use? 

This project will heavily involve taking inspiration from games such as GTA, the latest Cyberpunk 2077, and the Fallout and Halo franchise. These games incorporate realistic cybernetic weapons, that I could use as the main shapes and style of my work. In addition to this, I can use their designs as a way to pick colour schemes, and combine my own bio-punk elements within this concept. 

Idea 3: Neon Motorcycles and Synth-wave floor

My chosen Specialism: 2D conceptual, as my primary specialism; I could really use modelling as a technique for this project, as the synth platform is inspired by the game ‘Outrun’, and synth-wave environments; Created using a head on perspective.

What will this project include? 

The focus of this project, would be variations of different science fiction motor-cycles. This would be produced using a synth-wave background floor, created using a neon  pink. The motorcycles themselves would be created using a variety of different colours, including green, blue, red, and yellow. 

What style will this project use? 

The style would be similar to the bikes shown in the game ‘Tron’. They are extremely futuristic, and use modern technology as an influence of the motorbikes structure. The neon effects could be created using panels on the side, or around the wheels. The project would be bright, and would represent Cyberpunks use of neon and techno-based lighting in a dark environment. 

Idea 4: Hologram City in a snow-globe

My chosen Specialism:  The final idea would again use concept art; I believe this project would work exceptionally well using this specialism, as the holographic and transparent style of how a hologram looks, would be easy to create using the Photoshop tools. 

What will this project include? 

This project would focus on a hologram of a city, encased by a snow-globe. The city would use a range of blue and grey colours, with references to hacking and computer graphics, due to this domination of a computer-based society, The idea of encasing it in a snow-globe, can be used to show a new age and order, and well as being an interesting way to represent its holographic qualities.

What style will this project use? 

The style of this project would typically be science fiction, as its very much set in a future with a high development of technology, relating to cyberpunk due to it being reformed in a lower tech-savvy society. Holograms are distinguished from other 3D imaging as they do not require the use of special aid or glass. The snow-globe scenery gives this concept a diorama type feel, as its an enclosed space, as well as symbolizing a political oppression.
